2009 Fall Conference Summary

"25 year and Rolling on" was the theme for the 25th annual DTA conference held at the Radisson Hotel in Fargo, ND. Julie Bommelman from Fargo Transit and Paul Grindeland from Fargo Senior Services were great hosts for the conference.

DTA was fortunate to have some great industry leaders give presentations at our conference this year. They included Therese McMillan, Deputy FTA Administrator from Washington D.C.; Scott Bogren, editor of CTAA's two magazines, Community Transportation and Rail as well as Joseph Chapman president of North Dakota State University, Fargo, North Dakota.

Our keynote speaker, Therese McMillan, talked about the rich history of DTA over the past 25 years and the state of transit in the country. Robbie Sarles, who has been a trainer on the national scene on FTA's Drug & Alcohol Program, since its conception, spoke on Tuesday morning about some of the latest changes in regulations. Tuesday afternoon there were two panel presentation & discussions; Lori Van Beek from Moorhead facilitated Transportation Coordination and Mobility Management and later Julie Bommelman from Fargo Metropolitan Area Transit facilitated a session on Emergency Preparedness. On Wednesday morning regional eight FTA personal Terry Rosapep, Jennifer Stewart & Susan Martin conducted training regarding to FTA reporting and other Transit Requirements.

Motivational speaker Patty Corwin added some humor and thoughts on caring at our parting luncheon on Wednesday noon.
