Driver Training
Option #1 - Precision Driving
This workshop will help drivers learn to operate a transit vehicle. The class will be divided into three equal groups with each group attending a concurrent session. The sessions begin promptly at 8:30 a.m.
The three sessions include:
- Drivers Responsibilities and Pre-Trip Inspection
Instructor: Darrell Michalenko
- How to Treat & Respect Disabled Passengers
Instructor: Theresa Beesman, Independence Inc.
- Hands-on training (with 4 buses on an obstacle course with instructors aiding the drivers)
Instructor: Marlin Newman
Option #2 - CPR & Defibrillator Training
Those taking this workshop will become CPR-certified. Training will also include proper use of the defibrillator. Instructors: Minot Ambulance Service Personnel
Option #3 - Wheelchair Lift Procedures
Procedures for wheelchair lift and tie down operation.

Directors and supervisors may attend sessions as observers and will not be counted as part of the 24 participants.
Conference Speaker
Robin L. Silverman's missionin life is to show others "I'm-Powering!" new ways to create, communicate, and fulfill visions of success for themselves and others. She brings more than a decade of research into the mind/body connection of her programs, helping her audiences experience new dimensions of personal power that they often never knew they had.
Robin is the author of six books, including "Something Wonderful is About to Happen," "The Ten Gifts," "Take a Load Off!" and the forthcoming, "Fullistic Living." Her work has been seen in many national magazines, and featured on radio, TV and the Internet.
Robin is the host of the new "Wellness Café" show currently under development with North Dakota Public Radio. Her show brings listeners new resources for wellness in mind, body and community spirit, and features some of the most innovative pioneers in the field of complementary care in the United States.
Robin lives in Grand Forks, N.Dak., with her husband, photographer Steve Silverman.
Paratransit Bus Roadeo Participants
We would like to thank you for participating in the 16th Annual Paratransit Bus Roadeo in Minot on Saturday, September 17, 2005.
Please make your own hotel reservations by calling Holiday Inn Riverside in Minot at (701)852-2504. A block of rooms has been set aside for roadeo participants. Carpool whenever possible, including to events. Meals are at the current per diem rate. Travel vouchers will be handed out the day of the event. Your registration fee ($35) includes the 5 p.m. banquet at the Souris Basin Transportation Building, 309 1st Ave. NE in Minot, ND.
To encourage competition, the following prizes will be awarded for each state:
- First place, trophy plus $100 cash
- Second place, trophy plus $50 cash
- Third place, trophy plus $25 cash
- Fourth place, trophy only
- Fifth place, trophy only
This event is limited to 25 participants from each state - North and South Dakota.
Registration begins at 8 a.m., Saturday, September 17, at the Minot Public Works Parking Lot, 1025 31st Street SE. The test portion will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the rest of the events will follow. It is a very busy day. Events will begin on time, and you must be at the events on time to participate. Your only task is to be ready for a fun day of camaraderie and skills testing. More information will be mailed to participants by September 1, 2005.
Learning is enhanced when participants are relaxed and have fun, so plan to enjoy participating and sharing your knowledge and experiences. Your contribution will make the event better for all and each may learn from others' experiences.
