2004 Bus Roadeo
Summary

The 15th Annual Bus Roadeo Aug. 28 in Minot, ND hosted 31 drivers. Each negotiated the obstacle course and showed their skills in testing, pre-trip inspection and wheelchair operation. Limited space in some areas of the course at the City of Minot public works parking lot reduced the distance between the obstacles, making the course more of a challenge.

In addition to testing their skills, the roadeo helps drivers learn new federal regulations, see new wheelchair lift safety features and operate updated buses. The real winners of the roadeo are the passengers the drivers serve each day.

In conjunction with the roadeo, Rick Thoms and Darrell Francis of Souris Basin Transportation in Minot, conducted a Passenger Service and Safety (PASS) class for 24 drivers on Sunday at the International Inn and Darrell Michelanko, Minot City Bus, conducted a defensive driving course for the bus drivers on Saturday afternoon and Sunday for 15 drivers.
