2009 Bus Roadeo Summary

The 2009 Annual Bus Roadeo was held Sept. 19 in Fargo, ND. DTA had another very successful roadeo in the parking lot of the Fargo Civic Center parking lot. It was a beautiful warm sunny day and Rick Senger played music for everyone's enjoyment during the entire roadeo. There were 46 drivers registered and 43 participated. DTA add another class to the roadeo this year, and that was the large 35 foot buses. There were 11 participants from the fixed route systems from North & South Dakota. About 40 other people including transit directors and staff made an extra effort to attend and help the two marshals conduct and judge the roadeo.

Following the roadeo all participants and judges went out to Oak Grove Park for a wonderful BBQ supper catered by Famous Dave's of Fargo. After the evening meal was served the roadeo and Sure-Lok sponsored Above & Beyond award winners were announced. The North & South Dakota paratransit bus (small bus) winner will represent their respective states at the national competition next spring May 23, 2010 in Long Beach California at the Community Transportation Association of America's conference. The winner of the large bus competition will be going to American Public Transportation Association's (APTA) International; Bus Roadeo held in Cleveland, Ohio, April 30, 2010
