Rooms: $30 per night Rooms available nights of March 26, 27, & 28 (Rooms have single beds & sinks and Communal showers.) Meals: March 27-all three meals, March 28-all three meals, March 29-breakfast & lunch Meal costs: Breakfast-$8, Lunch-$9, Supper-$10. Please specify room nights needed and meals you will be doing. Day 1: Driver Certification, Trainer Certification

  • Introduction: Pre-test, stress management, Americans with Disabilities Act
  • Driver Sensitivity, awareness and communications
  • Mobility equipment (including walkers, canes, crutches, braces, etc.)
  • Hands-on assistance (including body mechanics, transfers and guiding the vision impaired)
  • Wheelchair types and features (including scooters)
  • Lift operations
  • Securement

Day 2: Driver Certification, Trainer Certification

  • Principles of crisis management
  • Evacuation techniques and emergency procedures
  • Bloodborne pathogen protection
  • Handling seizure disorders
  • Responding to passenger abuse and neglect
  • Driver/passenger sexual improprieties
  • Review and final examination

Maltreatment Awareness for Transit Drivers

  • Recognize situations that lead to escalation and learn techniques for de-escalation
